We had noise problems in our cabin, which were eventually resolved to our satisfaction.

The Oceanview cabins on the 3rd deck are a good size. We later moved to a balcony cabin on deck six. It seemed to be a bit smaller.

Other than the noisy cabin, this was one of the best cruises we have taken.

Cabin Review

Cabin 8

This cabin is a good size, and comfortable. The room steward was friendly and always greeted us with a big smile. This cabin is mid-ship, close to the central foyer, where you can get an elevator to the 14th deck for relaxing. It is equidistant from both the theatre and the Opus dining room.I normally book a cabin on a lower deck, and toward the middle of the ship, due to a tendency to motion sickness. I have never encountered noise problems in cabins at that level, until the Celebrity Reflection. On the first night I heard a sound that I thought was a foghorn, however, there was no fog. Heard the sound again on the second night, so I registered a complaint with Guest Relations. Met with Guest Relations officer, and an engineer on the third morning, where they indicated that they never had a problem with noise in that cabin before. They told us if we heard the noise to call them at any time, and they would dispatch someone to deal with the problem. They indicated that the operator would be made aware of the situation. Heard the noise again at about 2:00 a.m in the morning (i.e. the third night). Called the operator, who apparently didn't know anything about our complaint, but succeeded in dispatching an engineer to our cabin. The engineer arrived, acknowledged that he heard it, and said it what s “system thing”. At this point, we had been awoken for several days and were becoming sleep-deprived. The sound was not my imagination, as our travelling companions in the next two cabins were also disturbed by the noise. The next day I heard various sounds in the morning that sounded like 1) a high pressure water hose, 2) someone banging on a 45 gallon drum with a wrench, and 3) sundry noises that I couldn't identify. Perhaps there were working on a solution. We were not enjoying the cruise, nor the excursions we took, because we were too tired. Guest Relations said that there were no cabins to move to, as all cabins were full. I asked, “What would happen if my room flooded?” (that happened on a previous cruise with another line). She said that they would put us in interior rooms. There were two interior rooms, but our party consisted of three couples, so one couple would still have to be inconvenienced by the noise. At a subsequent port of call, three cabins became available. All three couples were moved to those cabins. We all received a plate of strawberries, a bottle of wine, and a letter of apology from guest services. Each member of our party also received a voucher toward a future cruise with Celebrity. In the end, Guest Services were able to resolve our problem to our satisfaction. However, the first few days (including excursions) were less than enjoyable because of sleep deprivation. Note to readers: if you book a lower cabin ask your travel agent about the noise level. If you end up in a noisy cabin, make Guest Services aware of the situation immediately.
