This cruise was a repositioning cruise for the Wonder from the West Coast thru the Panama Canal to Florida. Hurricane Odile was traveling up the Mexican coast as we were getting ready to go down the coast from San Diego. As we found out on embarkation day that the Wonder would skip ports of call, Cabo San Lucas and Puerto Vallarta, and sail further out at sea to go around the hurricane. Disney Cruise Line's priority was to insure the safety of the ship and passengers/crew. The ship rolled and creaked as we sailed past the outer edge of the hurricane. Projected swells about 12 feet. We then encountered Tropical Storm Polo. Rocking again, but not as bad from the hurricane.

We spent 7 days at sea before reaching the Panama Canal. The entire crew was fantastic. Captain Gus made daily announcements at noon and at 5:00 pm giving us updates about the hurricane and tropical storm. We were well informed. The cruise director, Jimmy, and his staff planned and organized numerous activities to keep us busy on all the sea days/nights. Captain Fabian returned to the WONDER at the Panama Canal and Captain Gus departed.

The Wonder is in great condition. The crew is always cleaning and repairing things. The public restrooms are spotless and well kept. Kudos to the housekeeping staff! We saw the deck crew cleaning every morning as we walked our laps around deck 4. On our two port days they were outside the ship power washing and cleaning the sides of the ship.

Cabin Review

Cabin 7A

Our cabin was portside halfway between the aft elevators and far aft stairs. It was also close to the Deck 7 aft open viewing area. The cabin is conveniently close to Beach Blanket Buffet two decks above and the Buena Vista Theater two decks below. We took the stairs right down to Animator's Palate and Parrot Cay and used the stairs 95% of the time. This area of the ship is fairly quiet and close to the laundry room on the starboard side of the ship. Plenty of storage space in the cabin. The bed and sofa was a little lumpy for me. I really liked the open/close drapes between the bed and the sofa when I wanted to watch TV and DH wanted to sleep. It did a good job blocking the glare of the TV lights. If the ship rocked, you could hear the hangers in the closet banging against each other during the night.Overall, great cabin! I would book this category and this deck again.
