I'm going to focus this review on our excursions since I think the Hawaii cruise is more about the places you go than the boat you're staying on.
We got to Honolulu a day early (Friday) and spent most of the time in the Waikiki area. We hiked up Diamond's head the next morning (Saturday) and then went to the farmer's market that was right down the road (bottom of volcano), at the community college. The farmer's market had great snacks and treats that we really enjoyed.
When we got on the ship later that day, we went to a shore excursions talk to figure out how we would spend the next week. (We were too busy beforehand to research what to do on our vacation.) During the talk, they told us that most of the ports are in industrial areas and are not within walking distance of a downtown area. They encouraged us to book excursions every day but the excursions were pretty pricey. Most of them started at around $50-60 and that was for a basic shuttle to the beach. To see and do the things we wanted, most of the excursions would have costed us about $120-150 per person, per day.
