In brief – this was my second cruise on Adonia. I like small ships and the more intimate and friendly experience they provide. I had reservations about the limited amount of open deck space on these R-class ships, but this was a port-heavy cruise so not likely to be a problem. My other previous complaint about this ship was the lack of reclining chairs as opposed to sunbeds so I was delighted to see that this had been addressed in the intervening year or so since our last cruise on her.
Sunday 24 August
After driving down the day before to stay with my friend at Hythe, I was up very early to see Adonia sail in at dawn from her previous cruise. She followed Queen Victoria which was shrouded in swirling mist as the day woke up. Arcadia was last in of the three that day.
We had Cabin C36 – an obstructed view cabin on the port side, but we had carefully chosen one with a view between the two tenders so very good indeed. Storage is nearly all cupboards on Adonia with just some small drawers in one of the wardrobes, and the bathrooms are minute, but fine for 12 days!
