The Radiance of the Seas is a beautiful ship with lots of glass and a very open feeling. We had a balcony state room that was very comfortable. The shower was small but adequate. The toilet was hard to get used to as it resembles an airline toilet and makes a similar sound when flushing. Closet space and storage was ample. There were only two electrical outlets which is not enough when you are charging two iPhones and two iPads. The ship was well maintained and the service was excellent. We ate all our meals in the main dining room and the food was very good with a great selection.

However, I would not cruise on this ship again for this one reason--when you exit your room and walk down the long hall, you end up in an open area with stairs and elevators to other decks of the ship. In the center of the ship, this open area extends from the lower deck all the way up to the top decks. The casino where smoking is allowed opens into this area so every time you enter this area to use the stairs, you get a big waft of cigarette smoke. The Aurora Theatre is located on Deck 6. So is the casino. The quickest way to the Aurora Theatre from our room on Deck 8 was to walk down the stairs to Deck 6 and walk through the casino to the Aurora Theatre. There wasn't another way on Deck 6 to get there. We opted to stay on Deck 8 and walk across the open area to the other end of the ship, down all the halls of the other rooms until we got to another set of stairs where we could walk down to Deck 6. This is a long ship and this was a real pain. But the smoke in the casino was sickening and we opted to do this to get around to the other end of the ship where most of the activities were occurring. This center area of the ship is quite beautiful and it is a tragedy that the smoke from the casino is allowed to drift into this area. This makes it very unpleasant for those of us who choose not to smoke or choose not to breath in second-hand smoke.

Cabin Review

Cabin Deluxe Ocean View with Balcony

The stateroom was narrow and long with a queen bed and a balcony outside a sliding glass door. The balcony had a plexiglas railing and there was a small round table and two chairs. The shower was very small but adequate. There is only one shaver outlet in the bathroom but it did have a cupboard with mirror that opened that stored lots of toiletries. The toilet was hard to get used to as it resembles an airline toilet and makes a similar sound when flushing. Closet space and storage was ample. There were only two electrical outlets which is not enough when you are charging two iPhones and two iPads. I made the mistake of bringing a surge protected power strip which was confiscated from my luggage and returned to me as we left the ship after the cruise was over. The room was well maintained and we received towel animals in our room each night.
