This was my 3rd cruise on Oceania and my 2nd on the Marina. My wife and I were in a Penthouse Suite. We were excited about the itinerary as we had not been to most of the ports.

The positives first. The ship looked as good if not better than our original sailing shortly after the ship was 1st put into service. I have rarely found a cleaner ship and it is so well maintained. Our room was perfect and the butler and cabin attendants were attentive yet non intrusive. The speciality restaurants were great with our hats off to the Red Ginger, Jacques, and Polo. The food was great and the service although a bit rushed was great. I was very disappointed in Toscana. Although one of my favorites on past trips the food was terrible and the service very spotty. The entertainment on board is quiet and about what you would expect from Oceania. There are no big broadway reviews and we like it that way. The crowd was a bit older than we would have liked. Almost 90% of the people we met were retired.

The negatives without a doubt are the Oceania tours. I cannot emphasize enough that they are not worth the money you will spend. We took the unlimited package which cost almost $2000. While some of the tours were good, more than half were marginal and a few we just walked away from as the guides were so poor. I would urge you to find a local alternative through your travel agent. When we companied (as did others), we received very polite letters from "O" thanking us for our feedback, but no refund. We took a very expensive lunch trip to Bordeaux that cost $400 over the base cost of the tour. The visit to the winery was great, but it was no better than a free tasting in Napa. The tour took 15 minutes and the lunch was not worth $200 per person. Bottom line, stay away from "O's" tours. You will do better on your own. One other concern was the main dining room. Service is slow, almost painfully slow at times. Food was good, service was spotty. While I would go back to "O" I am looking at other lines now as they just don't seem to live up to all the hype. I enjoyed the trip, but for the money spent I think there are other options for premium cruises.

Cabin Review

Penthouse Suite

Beautiful room as described. We loved all the storage space and there is plenty. There was no noise from above or below and the room was maintained perfectly. We were on the 10th floor so there is no obstruction to the view.
