I cruised with my 80 year old mother - so mixed generations. The ship is stunning -possibly slightly large for us but still possible to escape the crowds. We did not really use the sundeck and pool area as it was pretty crowded and noisy throughout the cruise as the ship seemed to be full. Did swim in the "indoor" pool which was quieter and lovely. Cabins are spacious and very well appointed - plenty of storage and the showers are super. Balconies have chairs and table - great for sunning and generally relaxing. The cruise experience is very European - most of the passengers were from southern europe - Spain and Italy and they do tend to be exuberant and noisier than we are used to as well has having low tolerance for queuing - they just don't! Once you get used to the culture differences (we all have them!) it was a great experience. Food was good - not fine dining but always plenty to eat and could always find something to like. The buffet had massive variety of dishes at breakfast and lunch. We ate in the Arabesque restaurant - early sitting is quite early (6.45pm) and late is quite late for Northern Europeans (9.15) - but we had the early and worked OK.
For the size of the vessel the administration worked OK - took us about an hour to check in and board - not a pleasant location in Venice though for the boarding procedures - very basic. Took us only 25 mins to disembark so that worked fine. We did not take any excursions - seemed quite expensive so we made our own arrangements - walked or took local transport/taxis in all the ports - was easy to do.
Entertainment was just OK - half an hour show in theatre each evening - varied themes to appeal to many languages - the repetition of everything in 6 languages at the start of the show did get a bit irritating but is necessary as there is such a range of nationalities. Also the last night was a bit of a cheat as it was a repeat of everything earlier in the week!
Could not fault cabin - spacious even though we had beds separated as a twin - had sofa, dressing/working table with plenty of power points, TV, good wardrobe and drawer space, minibar and super shower cubicle with full glass screen. Balcony nice size for two to sit - chairs only (no loungers) and small table.
