We cruised on Norwegian Gem at the end of August, going to Port Canaveral, Great Stirrup Cay and Nassau, Bahamas. I booked a Penthouse suite in back of the ship because DH wanted to have breakfast and lunch at Cagney’s every day -- a perk that’s reserved only for people staying at the Suites and above.
We parked our car at 55th and 10th Avenue. It was about seven blocks away from the port but we didn’t mind because it was much cheaper than parking at the pier. (We saved almost $100.) The Embarkation process was very easy. Be sure to tell the person directing the passengers if you have Priority Checking (i.e. Latitude members and Suite guests). You will be directed to a shorter line.
You can bring your own wine onboard (as we did), but must pay the $15 corking fee per bottle (more if the bottle is larger than 750 ml). If there were any bottle left unopened at the end of the cruise, you can get the corking fee back. Simply go to the Customer Service on the 7th deck and bring your unopened bottle(s) with you before you leave the ship.
