Loved it so much we booked another cruise with RC for next year We had a very enjoyable time on the Jewel, we liked it so much we booked another cruise with RC in Feb 15. We've sailed on Carnival and Norwegian but RC was the best so far. We had a 9th deck balcony and found there was plenty of room. The only negative was the thickness of the mattress on the bed. I found it too thin and had trouble sleeping but one call to the front desk and they immediately brought up a pad which helped. I've read negative comments on the shower, granted it is small but I had no problem showering and there was plenty of hot water. Our room attendant was absolutely the best and went out of his way to ensure we were comfortable. We met him when we boarded and first arrived at the room and I made a comment about liking the ice bucket filled and not once did we find an empty ice bucket, it was always filled. He treated us like royalty and I was more than happy to leave him a nice tip when we left.

I found the same from our waiter, we did My Tme Dining and loved it. Our waiter and his attendant were first class. They quickly learned our names and preferences and they too took very good care of us, I tipped them both which was above and beyond the tips from the Dining Plan. I always try to treat people with kindess regardless of their position and I find they respond in the same manner. I was impressed with the work ethic of each of the workers we encountered and they seemed to really enjoy hearing a genuine "thank you" or smile. My wife and I thought the food was very good, portions were the right size and many times I ordered more than one appetizer, main course or dessert, we stayed active by using the stairs vs elevators and taking shore excurisons requiring physical activity to burn up calories. The shows were above average, we only ate in the main diining room or Windjammer and did not eat at the specialty restaurants because we were happy with the quality of the food in both venues.

Though the ship was fully booked we never felt like there was ever a crowd. We did not book any excursions through the ship, we used excursions found through cruise critic member feedback, great time, smaller crowds and a few dollars less. OK, I'm only one voice but I've seen negative reviews and sat with others during dinner who comlpained about everything. It proves some people will never be satisfied but my wife agrees with me, we had a wonderful time on a beautiful ship with RC employees who went out of their way to make our cruise special,

Cabin Review

Superior Ocean View Stateroom with Balcony

Cabin D2

We were satisfied with the size of the room, plenty of space in the closets & shelves. We were able to put our luggage under the bed. Balcony access was nice, really enjoyed having coffee in the morning as we docked. Plenty of space for the two of us and we used it to dry our swim suits. Bed mattress was thin but front desk delivered a pad which made it much better.
