Well let me start off by saying I should have known this was going to be a bad cruise when we embarked and entered the ship on deck two where on most ships you disembark at most ports, every other ship we have always entered through the atrium. We found out why later.

We did have a Junior Suite with Balcony and the room was great and our housekeeper would always get us what we needed. My wife decided to get a massage at the spa the first day of the cruise. However this did not turn out well at all and they ended up hurting my wife's leg to the point she could not walk on it for most of the cruise and she ended up going to see the ships doctor. This also caused us to cancel all of our shore excursions we had purchased prior to the cruise. When this occurred it also forced us to stay on board the ship during the stops at the port.

The ship was like a ghost town while in port and no activities not even by the pool and the shops, casino and most bars was closed while in port. This came as a shock to us as last year we took a cruise on the Oasis of the Seas and it traveled to ports we had been to several times and on port days there was always activities going on. I had also purchased the drink package from Royal Caribbean that includes the cup for the coke machine that you can mix and match to make different flavors of drinks. This also included fresh squeezed orange juice, non alcoholic frozen drinks and high end coffee. I went to a bar the first night to get a frozen drink and was charged to my surprise. I went to the guest relations desk and was greeted by a female at the desk who was very unhelpful. I told her I had purchased the drink package and that I had been charged for my frozen drink, she asked to see my card. I gave her my card and this is where it went down hill as she asked "were my drink package sticker was and why I had removed it". I told her that there was never a sticker on my card and if there was supposed to be one they did not put it on when I embarked. I was told to hold on as "she was going to check" then she came back and said I don't see where you purchased any drink package. I have learned from past experience and I had my receipt but to my surprise she said "we don't accept travel agent receipts for purchases". I then told her I purchased the package on the Royal Caribbean web page and that the print out was from their web page, it was then and only then did she put the drink package sticker on my card and credit the drink I was charged for. I also got another surprise the second night of our cruise as I went to fill my coke cup which was part of this drink package at 9 p.m. in the windjammer buffet. I was told I could not fill my cup because the windjammer was closed for the night. The windjammer was the only place on this ship that had the coke machines. I was very upset to find this out as I stated we were on the Oasis of the Seas last year and they had these machines and they were every where and not just in the buffet area and you could fill them 24 hours a day on that ship. Jewel of the Sea you need to make these drink machines available 24 hours a day because of the price you charge for your drink package.
