Sail Date: Sep 2014

This was our first cruise with Princess. We sailed the Inside Passage to Alaska. I was underwhelmed with many issues on this ship. Immediately when boarding we noticed definitely this is an older ship which didn't seem as "overhauled" as it claimed. I had heard that the Grand was overhauled a few years ago to the tune of millions. Definitely did not see any evidence of a great overhaul. Next step is off to our cabin. Once I laid down on the bed for the first time I was horrified. The mattresses are extremely old, likely from when the ship was originally sailed. They placed no padding over it or anything. I could not even lay on my side, the springs hurt so bad. I had to add blankets underneath me and sadly it did not help ;o(

The Horizon Court buffet was a disappointment. The lines were often long and the food was not the greatest. For breakfast I could rarely even find hash browns. If there ever was any, they were just a fried potato cake basically. Our dining room experience was good, but definitely nothing great.

The sanitation of the ship was horrible. On more than one occasion the restrooms were horrible. I went into a restroom one evening to find urine all over the floor, toilet paper spread everywhere and urine all over the toilet. It was horrible. Another evening I entered a different restroom to find a stall that looked to be covered in some sort of feces and probably 50 paper towels in a mound over the top of it. These were the 2 most serious incidents I found. Most of the time the restrooms on the ship were dirty.
