I have enjoyed 5 week-long cruises with Carnival over the past few years and always had a great time. It has been 5 years till last week since my last one. It has changed dramatically for the worst.

First the positives. The crew were as friendly and efficient as ever. We made every port on time. Food and drink were always available.

The negatives. The quality and selection of food is terrible. Portions are now much smaller which is not a bad idea since you can order more. The selection in the main dinning room was very limited. If you are vegetarian don't even bother with the main dining room. After 2 days of the same horrible rice and tablespoons of sauces I began finding alternative places to eat. My wife ordered baked ziti and it turned out to be mac and cheese with small pieces of ham.
