We traveled out of Seattle to see Alaska on Celebrity in Aqua Class. The ship was clean and well appointed and, considering that Solstice was the first ship of it's class, it remains in good condition. The embarkation process was good but could have been so much better if they had simply provided the poor ladies trying to herd everyone onto the ship with a microphone. Rooms were ready around 1:30 pm. All the Solstice class ships are so similar that one could hardly tell them apart so it is easy to get around after your first time. I like not getting lost!

I enjoy Aqua Class when sailing Celebrity as I love Blu Restaurant instead of the large dining room or the cattle call buffet. The food is superior and not so heavy. I am not a foodie and I still find lots to choose from. We ate in Mario's area almost every night and I highly recommend his service! Usually Aqua Class also affords us the best of cabin service but not on this trip. Our cabin steward was distant and almost condescending. He never seemed to get how we like to cruise and constantly knocked on our door so that we felt rushed. The afternoon canapes were not very good this time so we stopped taking them after the second day. No flowers in the room this time and champagne only the first night instead of each night as we have had in the past. So, other than Blu (which can only be accessed from Aqua Class) this trip was NOT worth the upgrade cost.

The itinerary was very good and we got so lucky with the weather! This cruise was really all about learning something rather than simply relaxing. The naturalist they have onboard is very informative and entertaining. He would be even better if he had any type of humility! I love to tell someone how good they are first instead of them telling me how great they are first!

Cabin Review

AquaClass 1

Cabin A1

Typical Aqua Class cabin. Comfortable bed and nice size veranda. Usually have flowers in the room but not this time. Usually have superior cabin service but far from it this time. Worst afternoon canapes we have ever had and worst steward. If our experience was the only one we have had with this class of service I would say it wasn't worth the upgrade.
