Having experienced an incredibly miserable first cruise on a different Carnival ship, we had sworn to never sail with them again. But, we had a nice discount due to our prior issues and we were offered such am a,zing price for a spa balcony and well, we are cheapskates and so we took a large gulp and with much trepidation we booked the Sunshine in a spa balcony on deck 11. We were very nervous about this ship, she had mixed reviews and we had a very bad opinion of the cruise line. Well, it turns out our fears were unfounded. Our cruise was terrific.

Embarkation was a breeze. Everything was well organized and there was almost no wait. We arrived at around eleven and were on the ship just after noon.

Our cabin was perfect. Comfortable, muted colors, in the serenity area. It was very clean, on a quiet hallway and we had all of the spa perks. Our steward, Michael, went well above and beyond his job description to keep everyone happy. Our fellow cruisers who were lucky enough to be in the area he serviced were all raving about him. It makes the cruise even more special when service is so excellent.

Cabin Review

Cabin Spa Balcony

Our cabin was clean and bright. The muted decor was really welcoming. We had a great steward. The cabin was very clean. There was plenty of storage and the balcony on this floor was covered which I was very happy to see as I prefer shade. The bathroom was well stocked with Elemis products and there was the standard shampoo and body wash on the shower wall. There was a comfy Cloud 9 Spa robe and slippers. The slippers are yours to keep. We really enjoyed the cabin but would warn those with mobility issues that this area is accessed by only two elevators and often one of them is out of service for passengers. This makes for long, long waits and often people would use the stairs which would not work for those who have issues that prevent them from climbing a flight or two.
