My boyfriend and I decided to finally take a summer cruise. We have been talking about taking a cruise for years and finally this summer we carried out the plan. First off our reasons for taking a cruise very merely to have a getaway that was longer than just a few days, something on the cheap end, all inclusive and a new experience were we could also get to explore a beach on an island somewhere, and the cruise fit the bill for all our needs.
Before the cruise: I did a LOT of research. I got on cruise critic and other cruise sites and I read EVERYTHING I could find about Carnival Triumph. Once our tickets were booked, I did the online registration on the Carnival website.
I basically chose the option to pay our sail and sign cards (I think that’s what they are called) using cash and I selected our dinner options.
Our cabin was on deck 2. I told you we were going for the cheapest option and we allowed expedia to just pick our cabin so we could keep it on the cheap side. We also didn’t get a cabin with a patio, but opted for a cheaper room with oceanview. I have to say I was upset that we were on deck 2 because I was told that if you get motion sickness, like I do, the bottom decks are the worse to be on. But I have to tell you I was so pleasantly surprised. I LOVED our deck and I loved our cabin. We were one floor below the lobby AND RIGHT BY THE ELEVATORS. So convenient. There were absolutely no noise issues at all for us!!! My boyfriend thought the room was kind of hot, but he thinks it’s always hot. I thought the temp was perfect. If you have never cruised before, you will be very surprised at the size of an ocean view room. Way bigger than I thought it would be. Had a nice bed. Big couch and huge vanity area. Lots of drawers and great closet space. The bathroom is small, but it’s a cruise so. The shower is kind of a game of maneuver but still it was nice. They have dispensers mounted to the wall that give out shampoo and body wash. Bring your own hair dryer. Trust me, bring it. I was debating whether to take mine. I read many reviews were people did not take theirs and just used the ancient looking ones on the ship and were fine with it, but TRUST ME, you will want to take your own hair dryer if you style your hair. They do not have irons in the rooms. Iron your stuff before you pack, or you can use a laundry room that they have at every floor and use the iron and ironing board that they have in the room. Everyone does it, it’s fine.
