So we drove to the Cruiseport in Boston from W.Mass. Friday morning with three other people(60's and one 30ish) Had a little trouble on Black Falcon looking for D Street as the streets went from B to C to E and finally D! We pulled up and saw the Dawn and knew we were going to have a great time! Embarkation was easy as we were in the Latitudes Club. We got VIP check-in and were on the ship in 15 minutes. We had to wait 30 minutes for our 3 traveling mates as it was their first Norwegian cruise. This was our second with this line and we were VIPs already, Pretty good. So we went to the buffet first and there was no waiting(2PM). Had a great hot lunch. Then out to the Lido deck to grab a table and enjoy the Sailaway Party. Live music and $5 beers. Buy a bucket of 5 and get the 6th beer free! Another pleasant surprise. The Captain blew the ship's horn about 6 times while we were outside drinking. Very fun and unusual. Then on to muster.Hubby and I got to stand while our friends got to sit in the theater. Guess things even out eventually. After muster, which only took about 30 minutes, back up to continue drinking. Then up to our rooms(11th deck/mini-suites) where we were very happy with the size of the balcony and the storage space in the room. Can't remember what we did after that but retired about 10PM very tired from all the excitement of our first day. Slept very well.

Arrived at King's Wharf half hour early and people were off the ship by 11AM. We waited until 1PM after a really great lunch(yes we also had breakfast before-eateateat!) Purchased a 3 day ferry pass for $35 each . Took the ferry to Hamilton where we got soaked to the bones in a heavy rain downpour for about an hour. Decided to give up as we didn't know that most shops are closed on Sundays even bars! Our friend's umbrella even broke in the windy rain! Back to the ship on the ferry and hot showers. Our friends went to the Aqua dining room and totally enjoyed everything about the free dining venue. Hubby and I opted for room service. Should have gone with them. Drinks on their large balcony later and then to bed. Day 2 in Bermuda started with another great breakfast and then to shopping near the ship at the Clocktower Mall. One shop had all the gifts at great prices that we needed. Our friends went to Horshoe Bay Beach but they took a special bus for $16 each and spent $11 for each chair and $11 for a beach umbrella. They were not too happy about that. It was also 90 degrees and 90% humidity. Hubby and I thought we were back in Las Vegas where we're from so did not spend too much time outside. Met up with our friends for dinner at the Aqua as they really enjoyed their first experience there. I went to the casino later and won then lost. Got back about midnight and sat out on the balcony to watch the most spectacular lightning show I have ever seen and have never seen out at sea. Day 3 hubby and I went to the "free" beach, Snorkel Beach, which cost $5 to walk onto. Stepped in the water and back out again as it was very crowded. Had 2 beers at the bar there for $7.50 each! Finding that everything is very expensive in Bermuda. There is a free trolley(wow) that takes you all over the port area and we really enjoyed that. So overall Bermuda is very beautiful but bring a lot of money as bars and restaurants are very expensive. So we waved goodbye to Bermuda at 5:30PM and only regretted that our first day there was so rainy. Very glad we were not there during the hurricane the week before.Lucked out big time! Our next 2 sea days were filled with shows(Deal Or No Deal Game Show-fun), Cagney's(great), LaCucina(excellent), buying jewelry(really great) and lots of drinking and making new friends! On 9/4, my Dad's 90th B/Day a lone, tiny bird flew onto our balcony way out in the Atlantic Ocean and didn't know where he was. What was he doing there, all alone ? Where did he come from as we were far from any land? My Dad passed away this past March and I felt his presence in that tiny bird as my Dad sailed the Atlantic many times in the Merchant Marines many, many years ago. So,we made it back to Boston and wished we could get right back on the Dawn and sail away again. We had probably the best cruise ever! Everyone should sail the Dawn to Bermuda!

Cabin Review

Mini-Suite with Balcony

Cabin MB

Our cabin was clean and we met our steward right away, which was nice. Our balcony was very big and could stand 6 people at any one time. Plenty of storage and very relaxing. Be aware that if you are on deck 11 right below the 12th deck you will at times hear the music and activities on the Lido deck.
