We have just returned from a 5 night cruise on Celebrity Century. This is our 12th cruise and I would consider us very choosy and picky when it comes to the overall satisfaction we have experienced on our other cruises. We have also cruised on Carnival and Holland America.

Embarkation: Excellent. You can actually arrive at 11:15 and board the ship, even though the cruise line will tell you 1pm. Rooms won't be ready until 1 pm, but you can board between 11 and 11 :30 am. We completed the embarkation process with no problems (even stowed some wine in our luggage with no problems-- don't forget your own cork screw), it took less than 10 minutes.

Public rooms: This ship is older and you have to go into this cruise remembering that it is not going to have all of the glamour and glitz that some of the newer ships have. The rooms are all kept up very nicely. Deck 12 could use some new outdoor carpet, some of the hallways have some stained carpet, but it isn't that noticeable. All public rooms are in excellent condition and are very tastefully done. There are fresh flowers in some rooms and fake flowers in other rooms. If the beautiful fresh flower arrangements that you see on Holland America are important to you, then you will be disappointed on this ship, they do have fresh flowers, but they are small simple arrangements. Holland America definitely does a better job in the floral department.
