Sail Date: May 2014

Went on their 2 night Bahamas cruise in May of 2014. Having sailed on more than 60 cruises at that point and also having experienced more than 15 different cruise lines, I was curious to see what I would find onboard the MSC Divina. Realizing they are a relatively newcomer to the US Market, I was open to what I would experience. Happy to report I was pleasantly surprised by much of the experience. I'm also a high ranking loyalty guest with RCCL, CCL and CEL, so my expectations would still be high given what I know of the other dominant cruise lines in the US. Here is my quick rundown.

Entertainment was actually FAR exceeding my expectations. NEVER would have imagined they have the caliber of entertainers and shows onboard MSC. Totally caught me off guard. Food was within my expectations in particular the Italian menu items, were REALLY great. Fresh made pasta, sauces, pizza- all amazing as they should be given their Italian roots. Didn't get a chance to try their optional restaurants as it's was a short cruise and they were already booked up. Buffet was good and offered lots of choices. Had to sample their Gelato, which was AMAZING and worth the extra cost. Also their coffee was really European and so great, again worth the extra cost at the lobby bar. I drink coffee only on occasion but theme I do it's an event for me so this was perfect for the experience of it just like in Europe. Stunning is a word I would use to describe the Divina. Use of Textures and color combinations really makes for a sophisticated feel and atmosphere all around the ship. Crew was friendlier than I had expected given reviews I had rest. I think they are not used to how much Americans want to talk and interact with them. Once they saw we were friendly they opened up and really began to engage us. LOVE the Captain, so friendly and sociable. You can tell he lives what he does and also that his crew is important to him. All in all I went with low to moderate expectations but came back pretty impressed and wanting to go again. Think they are the rising star in the US and have no doubt I will cruise them again and not just in the caribbean. I love that they offer a different type of experience onboard. Tired of the same old cruises so we will certainly look to sail on the again, thinking Med for 2015. I say try them out now as their pricing is low enough. Once everyone learns about them, their rates will certainly go up.

Cabin Review

Cabin 12

Rooms are much larger than I expected, we had a balcony and the cabin was really spacious, bigger than on RCCL. Bathroom has this ingenious design for the shower doors to give you tons of space when it's. It being used. Loved the decor also, all through the ship and not just the cabins.
