Background Information: I am a cruise nut. This was my 19th cruise since January '05. I've traveled on Princess, Holland American, Celebrity, RCCL, Oceania, & NCL lines. I live in New York City and am in my mid 60's and love to snorkel and of course cruise!

Ship Info: Was pleasantly surprised with the Carnival Valor. I've read/heard mixed reviews on Carnival ships & was a bit concerned about joining one of their vessels. This ship was really great except for the decor. I found it very tacky & gaudy compared to the other lines. My cabin was fine but the public areas were a bit over the top. I was impressed with the layout of the buffet area (Rosie's Restaurant) & the variety of entertainment lounges. I'll get into the food later. Deck space was ample. Main pool area was rather strangely set up but terraced design was OK & there were more than one pool area for the passengers.

Activities: activities were OK but prefer those on HAL & RCCL better. Carnival is geared more towards the kids/younger set but was OK. The gym area was well appointed with ample equipment. Better than most ships.
