We have just returned from a 7 day Alaska round-trip, Inside Passage cruise from Vancouver on MS Zuiderdam. Ports were Skagway, Ketchikan, Juneau and Glacier Bay cruising.
All in all – it was pretty great. Vancouver is an hour flight from home so that was a treat from cruising from farther away ports. We stayed in VB veranda stateroom 4164. I booked that cabin purposely for the extra large balcony. In hindsight, I wish I had booked a VA room in a better location and for fewer dollars. The weather most days was damp, rainy or windy and though it was nice to have the balcony – a smaller one would have been quite adequate.
Embarkation was pretty smooth: about one hour from arriving at Canada Place to being in our room. The 2 men who looked after our room were great! They seemed to be around any time I was looking for them for more ice, etc. and our room was tended to in a very timely matter.
Located on port side, very far aft. Chose this room for the large veranda. I would have enjoyed the big veranda more on a hot weather cruise. It is a double size balcony, with a long lounge chair, two other chairs, an ottoman and a small table.
