Just off the Valor, sitting at the San Juan airport waiting on our flight home. Cruise #24 for us, first time on the Valor, first time sailing out of San Juan. Much easier than we thought it would be. We loved the Valor, very cheerful and bright. The staff is beyond wonderful. Super friendly, always with a smile and a good morning. The ship is clean and well cared for. Our room, 6279, deck 6 upper. Not a room I would pick again. We normally are toward the front or back elevators. This room is located very near the glass elevators and the sound carries directly up the open atrium. It sounds like the band or DJ or activity is happening IN your room. Very loud and quite noticeable. Loud until after midnight most nights.

We ate in Scarlett's steakhouse, as we normally go tot he supper club one night on each cruise. Should have skipped it this time! We know what to expect and that isn't what we received.Service was ok at best. The staff was very much "in the weeds" the entire time we were there. Our reservation was at 8pm, no table was ready when we arrived, waited until 8:15 for a table to be cleaned and set up. They didn't appear to be very busy yet they didn't have their act together at all. This was on the first formal night so they we giving a free bottle of wine just to get people in the door. Table service was ok at best, nothing special. Our shrimp cocktail was served on the verge of being warm. My salad had nasty brown lettuce in it and the brown core was still in the head. I didn't eat any of it, just pulled all the brown to one side and gave up eating any of it. When the server came back tot he table to ask how we enjoyed our salad (duh I didn't eat any of it) I asked her if she would have eaten that salad, she said "No I wouldn't eat that either" and took it away. My steak arrived and one side was nicely cooked and the other side was crunchy with black char on it. Looked like it flamed up on the grill but they still served it. I was able to eat about 1/3 of it. I ordered mashed potatoes with my steak and I kid you not they served me a tablespoon of potatoes.

Once again when she came by to check on us I told her my steak was burnt. She asked if I wanted to talk to the chef? I said no as I am not sure what good that would have done? It should never have been served in the first place so what would I want to hear excuses for why it was served burnt? Our dessert, cheesecake, was served warm, so much so that it was actually melting and running into a bit of a puddle on the plate. We had asked for it to go so we could take it to our room and relax. We ended up sitting it in the hallway for the steward to dispose of. Overall a very disappointing meal. We have no issue paying an up charge for a special meal, this time it just wasn't up to the standard we have come to expect.

Very noisy room, near glass atrium and the sound carries directly into your room. Would not pick this location again.
