For our 25th wedding anniversary we decided to treat ourselves to a cruise...and we couldn't have asked for a better vacation!

We booked a cove balcony on the Dream out of New Orleans which are the balconies closest to the water, on deck 2. It was amazing to prop the door open at night and be able to hear the sounds of the ship moving through the water. From what we gathered while onboard, the cove balconies get a bad rap, but only because people aren't aware of them or that they are considered the "economy" balcony. Nothing could be farther from the truth for sure, you don't have people above/below you slamming their doors all night, other than the sounds from the rooms beside us, we felt like we were the only ones on the ship when we were on our balcony, plus, they are shielded from the direct sun by the life boats above....check them out, we will always cruise with cove balconies when they are available.

Our room steward Mahammed, was amazing, always greeting us by name from the first day. We tipped him each morning as a sincere "thank you" and we never had to ask for anything, he even kept fresh ice in the cabin throughout the day.

Cabin Review

This balcony room was absolutely heaven at sea, perfectly midship. The room was very quiet, with little motion felt during our trip. The cabin was shielded from the direct sun by the life boats above, but not to be mistaken with being secluded....it was amazing. No slamming of doors above or below us. We will always choose a cove balcony on ships where they are offered.
