Most passengers were over 60 some with walking sticks, wheelchairs or other mobility aids and the entertainment, food, excursions onshore etc were tailored to this age group. Don't come expecting modern music there is nothing newer than the 1980's being played, burgers and chips or bungee jumping excursion’s ashore are not an option.

Food and wine were superb throughout the cruise, one night I had salmon and caviar starter, lobster thermidor main course and strawberries for desert. During the cruise we had quails eggs, pheasant, veal, beef steak, roast lamb, roast turkey, roast beef and the fish included red snapper, sole, halibut plus many other species. Staff were polite, efficient and helpful at all times.

Entertainment was mainly 60's and 70's music. Excursions considered the needs of the less able bodied passengers. Many people we spoke to had been with Fred Olsen many times and found the Balmoral was almost addictive and they returned time after time. Many people book one or two years ahead to get a particular itinerary or cabin. The Central Band of The Royal British Legion were on this cruise and performed many times during the two weeks. They were fantastic, there enthusiasm and variety of music played was outstanding.
