Celebrated my birthday by taking the kids and grandkids on a family vacation. (girls 3&4, boys 10&13). We left NY headed for Bermuda. Never made it there. Due to storms we were diverted to Port Canaveral for 1 day and then Nassau for 1 day. Would have preferred a port other than Canaveral. We stayed on the ship which was nice and relaxing and uncrowded. Many of those I spoke to were not happy with the excursions there. Cocoa Beach was a waste of time, Disney and Universal were too time consuming with lines. The next day we were in Nassau. My son along with his boys went to Atlantis for the water park and shark encounter. They had a fantastic time. The rest of us took a brief walk into Nassau just to get off the ship for awhile. Came back early and relaxed onboard.
Let me mention the negatives first as there are only a few: thee pools are small and therefore overcrowded, we wasted time making dinner reservations ( we were a party of 10 inc. young children) until we found someone who was able to help us. It would really be helpful if Norwegian would be more accommodating in prebooking dinner for large groups.
The positives: The splash academy for young kids must have been good as the 3&4 year olds wanted to go back each day. The 13 year old loved the teen lounge and made a lot of friends he hung out with. The overall service for very good at a minimum and quite often excellent. The staff really cared. Having read numerous reviews before sailing I had low expectations regarding the food. It's not gourmet but it is good. We enjoyed the sit down breakfast in the Savor dining room each day. Limited menu at O'sheehans where we usually had lunch, dining each evening in Manhattan Room w/music was nice.
Excellent location close to rear elevators which were usually less crowded. Nicely appointed cabin.
