This was our second family cruise. Our children are 18, 8 and 6. At first I was worried that our 18 year old would not be entertained since she aged out of Carnival's teen activities, but was still too young for most of the nightlife on the ship. I was please that she quickly made friends and kept herself entertained when she was not with family.

The 8 and 6 year old children loved Camp Carnival. However, they were slightly disappointed that they never got to do the rope obstacle course. This attraction was open for very limited hours, and even then, often closed due to high wind. It seems like a design flaw, to put a hi-line rope obstacle course on the 12th deck. It would seem that the only time when it would NOT be subject to high wind is when the ship is at port (and we are off on excursions).

As to the food, there were ample selections, even for our picky eaters. My only regret is that we did not try the Cucina de Capitano dinner until the next to last day of the cruise. It was EXCELLENT. Had we known, we would have skipped dinner in the dining room a couple of times and opted to be treated at the Cucina.

Cabin Review

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the cove. Will always book cove when possible. We had 2376 and 2378, which are not connecting cabins, but the steward opened the door between the balconies (at our request on the first day) and we could go back and forth between cabins by passing through the balconies. Individually, the balconies are large, and very private. If you want to keep the balcony doors open, remember to bring a bungie cord. 2376 and 2378 appear to be under the kitchen for the main aft dining room. A bit of noise at night, but nothing that kept us awake. We only heard it when we came in at night before we fell asleep. Truthfully, we were always exhausted from a full day of fun. However, if you are an extremely light sleeper, the nighttime kitchen noise might be disruptive to you. Lots of storage in the bathroom. The plentiful shelving allowed us to keep all of our toiletries organized and off the sink top. Room safe if operated by self-programmed code. The guests before us left it locked, but the steward supervisor was able to open it for us. An added bonus, one of the three guest laundry facilities is also on deck 2. By day 5 of the trip, these are highly utilized. I waited 45 minutes to start a wash load, but worth it to clean away sandy items and replenish fresh clean t-shirts and underwear for the entire family. Note to self: next time I will remember to bring my own laundry soap. $2.00 per box on the ship, and you will need 2 boxes for each large load. We had six people, and just washing the necessities, I managed 3 large loads. Ouch...
