We were on holiday with my husband, mother and 22 month old son. Embarkation wasn't too bad considering we arrived about 1pm at a really busy time.

ROOM - It was a little annoying to arrive to our room and not have the cot set up for my son who was due for a sleep. We had to put him to bed in our bed until our cabin attendant came an hour or so later. They wouldn't give us a cot in the end as they said my son was too big for it. He was just under 15kgs. It was very nerve wracking as he had never slept in a bed with no sides before and even with a collection of pillows around him he still fell off most nights, thankfully more well placed pillows meant that he didn't get hurt. We wouldn't suggest our room for more than two people comfortably. With the spare bed pulled out all the way as you would for a normal sized person you wouldn't be able to open the opposing drawers. Otherwise our windowed room was compact but functional. We had adjoining rooms with my mother's room which was requested and excellent. Our cabin attendant even brought us a door stopper so we didn't have to keep using towels so our son could move between the rooms since it was too heavy for him to open himself.

FOOD - we swapped between the buffet and the Skyline Restaurant for dinners. Both complimentary. The buffet wasn't too bad, it had a good selection of your typical American foods - burgers, pizza, fries, and other foods such as roast meat, vegetables, pasta, an Indian dish, an Asian dish and a salad bar. Unfortunately as with many buffets the food was often cold or dry. It was very handy to be able to feed our son whenever we needed to without waiting for restaurant service. As with all buffets it was a bit of a bun fight as it wasn't over well laid out but after a couple of days you learnt the ropes. The Skyline restaurant was pretty good. The service was almost always excellent and we were happy with the meals. We dined once in the supposedly higher standard Liberty Restaurant. This was possibly the worst dining experience that we had the whole trip. The service was slow and unfriendly, the meals pretty bad and we actually headed back down to the buffet for dessert as we did not want to stay there any longer. Two meals ordered were the roast lamb with scalloped potatoes and lentils. My mother requested it to be cooked medium/well done as she cannot stand pink meat. They arrived and were both the same, pink. If she'd been told it only comes in medium rare she would have happily chosen something else. I can only describe the meal as "a plate of brown"! Beige meat, brown gravy, brown potatoes and brown lentils! Not one piece of colour on the plate at all, and I am not exaggerating!

Cabin Review

Compact but functional. Good for 2 adults 1 child but would be uncomfortable for more than that. The window was great.
