We were on the Verandah deck in a "Junior Suite". There are limited rooms with balconies on this ship and they are all in the Suite and Junior Suite categories. The room size, 220 sq', was plenty large, with plenty of closet space and drawers. We were in room V21, with an obstructed view. The view was fine, only obstructed to the right. However, there is no climate control in the rooms. The only adjustment is a vent that you open and close.

Our room was over 80 degrees for most of the trip. We kept the curtains closed during the day in order to attempt to cool down the cabin, so admiring the view from our room was out of the question. Guest services told us that the cabin temperature was within Carnival guidelines. Maintenance engineers left a pre-printed card in our room with that info too. So evidently we were not the first to complain about the lack of air conditioning. Guests in the surrounding rooms told us that their rooms were uncomfortably hot too.

It was 99 outside in Charleston when we left and the muster drill was blazing hot. But returning to our cabin only escalated our discomfort and perspiration level. Several nights we considered taking a blanket and pillow to one of the public areas on the ship that were adequately cooled.

Cabin Review

Advertised as an obstructed view, but really has a nice view from the room and from the balcony. There are steps outside that access part of the ship and some cabins on Verandah deck can be seen from these stairs, but this cabin is out of that path. 3 closets for hanging clothes, 7 drawers, a couch, a coffee table, a foot stool and twin beds that can be shoved together to create a kingsized bed. There are 2 night tables that have 2 shelves and a lamp. There is an electrical outlet in the bathroom and a 220 and a 110 outlet under the TV. The worst part of this room (and maybe throughout this ship), is that there is no climate control in the cabin. There is a vent in the ceiling that you can open and close and that is it. We roasted. It was over 80 degrees in there most of the time. The cabin is worn and the carpet stained.
