Sail Date: Aug 2014

This was our first cruise on Carnival. We have sailed Holland America Lines on 7 previous cruises. The embarkation was quick and efficient in Port Canaveral. We parked at the satellite parking lot across from the Radison in Cocoa Beach for $7.95 a night. The drivers handled our luggage and were nice gentlemen.

We had booked a balcony and an interior room. We were in Cabin 7371 & 7261. The interior room was spacious and efficient. The balcony room- 7371 was very nice and clean upon our arrival. The only setback was the lack of a bathtub for my Mom but she adjusted to the "shower only". The suites have jetted whirlpool type bathtubs but the regular balconies have a shower only. There were no issues with the cabin's air conditioner, toilet or sink. There is only one electrical outlet in the cabin so please remember to bring a multi-plug device for a night light and electronics. The stewards did a fine job of cleaning our cabin. One day we stayed in our cabin till around 1130 and the steward told us that they wouldn't get to our room until 6:00pm that evening. I thought that was a bit weird in comparison to HAL who appeared to hide behind doors and waiting for us to exit the cabin so they could clean our cabin.

We did not use dinning room but prefer the lido deck for our food. This has been our custom at HAL and we would order in for breakfast. The breakfast menu for Carnival Liberty does not offer eggs, omelettes, bacon, etc. This was a disappointment but I had read about their limited breakfast menu prior to our sailing and informed my Mom what items were available- fruit, breads, coffee, cereal-cold and hot, yogart and juices. I chose cold breakfast cereal, juice and coffee and it was adequate. We made our way to the Emil's Lido breakfast buffet for 3 days. I don't understand how their buffet equipment failed to keep food "hot". It was so not HOT and you would think they would have someone measuring the temperatures of the food for safety and sanitation reasons but no one measured the temps in my prescense. This went for lunch and supper as well. The temps of the hot food was not hot enough. I ate a lot of salads and fruits for supper. Their freshness of their salad items were outstanding. The lettuces, tomatoes, cukes, etc. were extremely tasteful and fresh. The fruit such as watermelon were ok and a bit on the non ripen end of things at times. The pineapple, peaches, melons were fresh and very good. They had a huge selection of salad dressings.

Cabin Review

Very nice cabin room. We are located starboard side-3/4" aft. We missed not having a bathtub but worked through it! No vibrations and the air conditioning worked fine. We kept the curtains closed to help keep it cool. The elevators were not that far away for aft and mid ship access.
