Where does one begin to describe how disgusting NCL and the Breakaway is. This was my third time sailing with NCL and will most definitely be my last! There is absolutely no reason to travel on The Breakaway now with RCCL's Quantum of the Seas's sailing out of nearby New Jersey.

The Breakaway is a very nice ship, the layout is very nice and the bars are excellent, but the Breakaway is lacking in some major areas. The cigar lounge had inadequate ventilation, that would require the outside door to remain open, but this shut off the AC in the lounge and the outside bar area. The Casino was in the middle of the ship, and the cigarette smoke would travel through 3 decks and continue on. The food was disgusting and just tasted cheap, whatever you do stay away from the bacon... the bacon was some of the most grotesque bacon I have ever eaten, and I eat everything. It was so bad I wasn't able to eat it, even a bacon cheeseburger was ruined by the taste of the bacon. It just tasted like dirty pork. Our room steward was awesome, and so were the bartenders and servers throughout the ship. The Main dining room The Manhattan Room service was excellent, but the last night the service was a disaster.

This is a boat that will nickel and dime you to death. Everything seems to have an extra charge or requires a fee. We were supposed to go to Bermuda, but were diverted to Cape Canaveral Florida and Nassau Bahamas (The Ghetto of the Caribbean). I understand that there was a Hurricane and we needed to go elsewhere, but these were the best options NCL could come up with? This is an itinerary that is hundreds of dollars cheaper than what we paid. NCL refused to give anyone complementary On-board credit, even Carnival who was diverted gave their customers $100 on-board credit. Guest relations was some of the rudest, arrogant, and nasty individuals you will ever encounter in customer service. Speaking with many of the passengers the general consensus was the Ship is nice, but that was the only positive about the cruise. I will say though, speaking to first time cruisers they seemed to enjoy it, I guess not knowing any better. If you are considering NCL I would strongly discourage you from ever stepping foot on one of their ships. Royal Caribbean Cruise Line will now be my brand of choice, also Princess, Cunard are all in the NYC area. This cruise was so bad it had me considering even cruising again, do yourself a favor and avoid this ship like the Norovirus!!!

Cabin Review

This was one of the smallest rooms I have been on during a cruise. The BC balcony does have a larger balcony which made it much better. The overall room was tiny and did not have a lot of storage space.
