There are cruise ships and there are floating sardine tins. Sadly the Norwegian Getaway falls into the latter category.

From the moment you board, to meal times, to spending time pool side, to the group tours, everything feels crowded. Really crowded, bordering on claustrophobic. Having been on other cruise liners of similar size, it seems the focus of Norwegian is about cramming as many people on board as possible.

The first thing you notice when boarding the Norwegian Getaway is the pervasive stench of the solvents they use to clean the ship. While hygiene is key for the health and well being of passengers, the smell also adds a gag factor when trying to take in the smell of the sea and salty brine.
