I guess we knew what we were in for while we were still in the check-in hall. Hundreds of loud bogans yelling at each other, pushing and shoving and making us think we had made a big mistake.
Yes, we had made a mistake but we did the best we could with what we had.
Our mini suite was very nice. A comfy bed and a cabin steward that kept our room tidy and clean. The downside? We were directly below the open deck so had to endure chairs being dragged across the deck (our ceiling) at all hours of the day and night. Then they were lowering the tenders directly below our window anytime after 5 o'clock am. What a racket!!
The buffet was adequate but was somewhat akin to feeding time at the zoo and the al-a-carte Waterfront was very hit and miss. After a couple of meals we chose to pay extra and eat at the more upmarket restaurants.
The staff were helpful and friendly for the most part but seemed to be getting fed up by the 5th day and it showed. More
All in all, the experience was a great disappointment but it has not put us off cruising - we will just not go with P&O again. They obviously cater for a certain demographic so next time we will be more discerning and choose another more up market cruise line. Less
