Sail Date: Jun 2014

This is a difficult review to write. We love Disney Cruise Line (7 sailings thus far) and tried hard not to spend the week comparing the two. However, the comparisons became impossible to ignore. So, this review will compare RCCL/Jewel of the Seas to Disney Cruise Line/Magic or Fantasy. I recognize that it is a bit unfair to compare the older Jewel to the new Fantasy -- so, I will try focus more on comparing the Jewel to Magic.

Staterooms:

We are a family of four (2 adults and 2 teen girls). DCL wins this comparison by a landslide. RCCL cabins feel MUCH smaller than DCL. We had a D1 (the largest non-suite cabin available). When the second bed was opened - going between the main bed and the second bed was awful. We literally had to walk sideways between the desk and bed in order to get to the bathroom. This is no easy feat in the middle of the night - in the pitch dark - and with the children's feet sticking out. The cabins cry out for bunk beds.
