If you're looking for an ounce of serenity, DON'T expect it aboard the Breakaway. It provides a constant bombardment of sound and stimulation. Piped in hip hop on all decks, in all spaces. An atrium lobby for all activities with a sound system that intrudes upon the library, the Internet and the cafe located directly next to it, thanks to the architectual genius of the ship designer.

What is supposed to be the grandest liner is, in fact, claustrophobic--ceiling heights are lower and restaurant walls are more confining--limiting oceanviews. What is intended to create intimacy creates a hotel boxy feel. If I wanted to go to a hotel, I'd stay on land.

Food is mediocre, but I'd give a definite thumbs up to the Ocean Blue restaurant, but it will cost you an additional $39 per person. I purchased the ultimate dining package, paid extra for my food and ended up sending out for sandwiches one night because the food had been so inferior in one of the Italian restaurants that I hadn't eaten. (I should have stuck with the pizza as I noticed ship's crew was ordering).

Cabin Review

Small but adequate. Bed was comfortable. Balcony was miserably small. You could barely sit down on it. I shouldn't have bothered to pay for it. It was so small that I went up on deck instead. Couldn't even have coffee out there.Limited room service and small coffee maker in room. Would do better to put a Keruig machine. Because we had a spa suite, we could shower in the spa which helps with the bathroom situation.I thought the room was small, but we don't spend much time in the room.Staff kept room clean and well maintained. Room service menu was limited and there was no room to have breakfast in the room...no table and no room on the shelf that was in the room.
