My honey and I were looking for something to just get away. Get away from the stresses of every day work/life, get away from the computers, phone, everything. However, we did not have the luxury to take a 7-10 days cruise, because we did need to get back to business, so when we found this 4 day / 3 night cruise on the Norwegian Sky, it seemed absolutely perfect.
I would have liked a cabin with a balcony, but there was not one available, so we ended up with a cabin with a very large window. It was perfect for the 2 of us. The window was big enough to allow daylight into the room and actually I didn't miss having a balcony at all. Really the only reason we would have used the balcony is to enjoy morning coffee while sitting out there, or an evening cocktail. Besides, even when we go to a hotel, my thought process is "what is the room for anyway...it's for sleeping." We are not on vacation to spend our entire trip in a room or cabin. The bathroom was small, but again, it was just fine for taking a shower. The refrigerator is stocked with sodas and alcohol, so we asked our room steward to remove it (in the reading material, it says if you do not want to use it, have the steward remove it). Well, his version of removing it, was to just take everything out and put it on a top shelf in our room. I wasn't happy with that, as I wanted it out of our room, so that there was absolutely no chance of us being charged for something that we did not drink. He said that was their policy.
We chose the upgraded meal plan for the restaurants, but found after we were on board that the sushi restaurant was not included in the upgrade. We ended up eating at the steakhouse the 1st night, the french restaurant the 2nd night and then back to the steakhouse the 3rd night. The steakhouse on the 1st night was great, I DO NOT recommend the french restaurant at all....it was a thumbs down on all levels. We went back to the steakhouse on the 3rd night and while it was still good, it was not nearly as good on both the food AND service levels as it was the 1st night. I was really disappointed in the steakhouse the 2nd time we went. I had the same steak and the quality was considerably less than it was the 1st time.
