Sail Date: Aug 2014

This was our first time on the Sensation and we tended to compare the experience against sailing on the Freedom and Liberty.

The Cabin. We stayed in a Junior Suite on the Verandah deck and the balcony had a slightly obstructed view. The room was clean, cool, quiet, and roomy. The bathroom was slightly cramped and didn't have enough lighting. Only two small lights over the sink were installed which meant your shower was always dark. The quality of the water was also interesting at some times it would have a slightly brownish hue to it. Our cabin was V21 forward which meant a slight walk to the aft to use serenity or to eat at the buffet. The balcony was smaller than those on Liberty and Freedom but it still had room to enjoy the view and forget about your troubles. A small tv is mounted on the wall and a few channels were available but we weren't on the cruise to watch TV so not a problem.

During sea days we spent most of our time around the pool. We really enjoy the serenity areas on other ships but this one just doesn't work well. While the serenity area is quiet and the hot tubs rarely full, it was not serviced by bar staff. Any time we wanted to get a drink we had to get out and get one ourselves. At the pool area the wait staff was fantastic and always ready to get us more. Please let me provide caution to those traveling with small children. The single pool was absolutely packed with wall to wall people who were enjoying themselves and the spirits. Children should not be in the pool without their parent because they could quickly be pushed under. The DJ plays mostly salsa, and latin music in the pool area. Plenty of deck chairs were available which was not the case on our other voyages.
