We overnighted in the lovely Hotel Lunetta in Rome before embarkation in Civitavecchia the next morning. We got the train to Civitavecchia which proved to be easy and inexpensive. Embarkation was very simple and relatively quick and we were on board within an hour of arrival at the terminal. I never understand people who complain about how long embarkation takes. You have 3,000 people getting on board. That is the equivalent of 17 airplanes. It is going to take a little time. Relax and enjoy the excitement of the start of your holiday.

This was our first time on Silhouette but the layout was more or less identical to Equinox on which we had sailed last year. There was a nice mix of passengers on board and the overall ambiance was friendly and relaxed. It is a lovely ship with very pleasant decor and a great variety of artwork. Our cabin, 7260 was on the hump and had a huge balcony. The cabin was a perfect size and had plenty of storage space.

We had Celebrity Select dining and this worked very well. We never reserved as I think that defeats the whole point of the flexibility of this dining choice. We rarely waited more than 15 minutes for a table. The food in the MDR was in general very good and service was always top class. The food in the Oceanview cafe was always good and there was plenty of choice. I think though they need an extra pizza oven as they were not able to meet demand at peak times. We bought the Specialty restaurant package from our OBC allowance and it was well worth it as the four restaurants we dined in were excellent. We had the complimentary Classic Beverage package which we upgraded so we could have some more choice in our selection of wines. It was well worth the extra money.

Cabin Review

Great cabin with large balcony on the hump.
