This was my 4th cruise. Two on Norwegian. First time on Carnival. Left Miami on August 18, 2014 and returned on August 22, 2014. Key West and Cozumel, Mexico. This cruise for me was like being Rip Van Winkle and just waking up. We lived in Cozumel for one year in 1985 and then moved to Key West for 18 years before moving to Fort Myers, Florida. Carnival gives you value for your money. Our cruise was $285.00 per person which included the cruise, tax and prepaid tips. For that fee we got all the food you want entertainment, room and fun. There are two main dining rooms. One for assigned dining times and one for anytime dining. We went with the anytime in the Wind Star. Food, service and everything else was perfect. I have eaten all over the world and I give it an "A". Buffet food wasn't as good. I give it a "C" grade. Carnival gave us an up-grade to a window room. I need that as the interior rooms are too dark.

Okay now we get to the negative stuff. Our room was better suited to two people. My neighbor warned me about this. We had a guest with us and had to have a third bunk that folded down from the wall. Once it was lowered the person sleeping next to the window had to lean down and crouch and go under the lowered bunk to get to the window. Or as I did walk over the double bed. What a pain. I did notice some interior rooms with three twin beds in one room. That might have been better.

Cabin Review

Room service was excellent. Went out to eat and when we returned everything made up with mints on the pillow. Only draw back was room was perfect for two. However, we had a third person with us and they had a bunk that was lowered and it blocked the path to walk to the window to get to the far side of the bed in the room. So I had to crouch down and walk under the over hanging bunk bed that was lowered out of the wall. If we would have had a 4th person Carnival would have given us a 2nd room with two people in each room. 3 is an odd number.
