My partner and I were new to cruising and selected Celebrity for a 14 night cruise of the Baltic. We were pleased with the shore excursions on offer by Celebrity and also occasionally went with shore based operators. The latter arrangements generally had to be made before the cruise, particulaly for St Petersburg.
Our cabin was very good and well laid out and the service of the cabin attendants was very helpful and professional. The same could be said of our wait staff at the restaurants.
The on board entertainment seemed to our eyes very well run and was most enjoyable.
We were very pleased with the various eating venues and what they had on offer.
What surprised us were the extra costs that went with this cruise. For example the $US12 per pay each for crew gratuities. Why? We tipped the wait staff and cabin attendants at the end of the cruise anyway as they impressed. The cost of liquor and laundry was extortionate and $US65 for 30 minutes of wifi - was an eye opener. On shore there was free wifi at almost all tourist venues including for goodness sake, our tour bus in St Petersburg.
As indicated above we are new to cruising and I would be interested in other travelers views on these costs and what the policy is with other ship operators. We thought they were extortionate.
