My Wife and 17 year old daughter traveled on the Grand Princess inside passage from 8/3 to 8/10 RT from Seattle. Alaska was the Star Here, Grand not so much.

We had the owners suite with a balcony off the back.B751 Room was dirty and dated. The Deck was big and awesome.

All the inside passage ports were great. In Ketchikan we did the Misty fjords with Captain Randy of Mountain Express. Great excursion and you can do it privately without the ship, save some money and he even takes you to land. Town was pretty cool.

Tracy Arm Fjord.  Wow, get outside or be on your deck at 6:00am for this show. We got closer to the sawyer glacier with the grand than ever. So they say, but we were really close. This little excursion was priceless. Do not sleep through it.

Juneau was a little bigger; we did the Whale watching Mendenhall Glacier combo tour with Dolphin Jet boat tours. Also booked privately and saved 40.00 pp. Whale watching was ok, saw a lot of whales but no breaching or bubble feeding, Went then went to the mendenhal glacier which was nice, then took the trail to see the salmon and saw a black bear catch a salmon and feed it to her cub. Very Cool!’

Daughter then went back to the ship and we had a Beer at a very fun saloon at the Red Dog.

Skagway was the Helicopter to the Meade Glacier. This was the highlight of the trip. It’s expensive, but this is what Alaska is all about. Do it if you can. Weather was much better than expected at the Alaska Ports. It really only got cold on the glaciers. Also took the train to white pass immediatey after the helicopter tour. We ok, but after everything else it was a little boring for us. I think I slept through the downhill portion. Tip: sit on the left side going up.

Victoria, We did the But chart Gardens and they had weekly fireworks. This is another do not Miss. Best gardens and Fireworks show ever.

Back to the ship. The food in the Specialty restaurant was good. The dining rooms hit and miss. Service was just ok. Shows were nothing special. But we skipped a few to watch the real shows off our back balcony sipping cocktails. As orca and humpback whales jumped off the stern of the ship. Ship is getting old and needs a renovation.

We still had a blast visiting Alaska. Our 17 year old had the time of her life as they were many teens on this ship for her to hang out with.

We also had a day to spend in Seattle. A fun city with the Space Needle area and Pikes Market. But Expensive Crab L eggs! 55.00 for a pound.
