Our transfers from a very busy Venice airport were slick and professional but then the chaos started. As we entered the large and airless boarding hall to receive our boarding cards we were allocated an alphabet letter and told to wait until our letter was called. This took close to an two hours as the "freestyle" method of boarding was done on a first come first served basis. There was a further looong queue for transport to the ship itself. As we could see the vessel at the quayside we decided to walk it and it took us precisely 11 minutes!

The vessel itself was beautiful and our cabin (stateroom) although small lacked for nothing. Plenty of drawers, hanging space and shelves to pack away clothing and personal items. The bathroom, although small, was cleverly designed with the shower surprisingly roomy. A sliding door across the toilet area is a great feature. The small refrigerator worked a treat once cleared of its expensive contents. Or cabin attendants were friendly, efficient and unobtrusive.

Food in all of the public (i.e. no additional payments) areas was high quality and very varied. However, at the two main "formal" dining rooms the "freestyle" method of first come first served did not work for us. We often had to stand in long queues only to receive a bleeper to be called half to three-quarters of an hour later. I do believe that this method puts extra pressure on the galleys and the serving staff resulting in table service that did not,at times, match the overall standard of the vessel. What was impressive at dining venues was the constant emphasis on cleanliness with staff at each entrance spraying diners' hands with a disinfectant spray.

Cabin Review

This cabin should never be sold as it is very noisy at 4 a.m. due to breakfast preparation in the galley directly above it.
