Fabulous First time cruise

Sail Date: August 2014
Destination: Europe - Eastern Mediterranean
Embarkation: Venice

Celebrity Silhouette is a beautiful sleek floating palace, this was a first ever cruise and we certainly picked a great ship to start. Embarkation was fairly smooth despite the large number of people boarding the ship and first impressions as we arrived on deck were "wow, is this really a ship" Following a welcome drink we found our good size cabins on the 7th deck with verandah and settled on the Port side of the ship for our trip through Venice. This was a truly amazing experience, one I will never forget.

The food on board was excellent with plenty of choice. We dined in the main dining room on select dining so we could choose our times for dinner. Breakfast and lunch we ate in the OceanView cafe which had so much choice. Staff on board the ship were amazing, friendly, helpful and efficient. Entertainment staff were all enthusiastic and willing to have a go. We watched the theatre shows most nights - some were good like the Broadway nights musical review, a cirque du More soleil type show and Jon Courteney who was a pianist/comedian. Others were not quite so special.

Shops on board sold rather pricey gifts, watches and jewellery but there was plenty of choice if you had plenty of money. The pool areas were always clean and pool butlers were vigorous in getting rid towels left on beds that remained unoccupied for more than half an hour. There is plenty of shade if the sun became too hot - we were blessed with glorious weather on our cruise.

All ports were fabulous althugh two were tendered and this does take time when disembarking the ship - Corfu in particular resulted in a delay of over two hours leaving the ship which really curtailed our private tour of the Island. The layout of the Silhouette means no-one feels they are in the deepest depths of the ship as the lifts are all open and stairwells are also well designed to give a light airy feel to the ship - I was gobsmacked most of the time that we could actually be on a ship at all. There was no discernable movement at all when the boat was sailing - all in all an amazing experience and one we will be repeating again - definitely with Celebrity and probably with the Silhouette - a lovely name for a lovely ship......... Cabin review: Celebrity Silhouette 7326

Our cabin was aft starboard and very comfortable and roomy. Having the balcony was ideal and we used it several times on our ship The bathroom was an adequate size and water was always hot. The double bed was comfortable and the steward ensured it was always clean and tidy

Port and Shore Excursions

Corfu is a beautfiul island but our disembarkation was delayed by two hours due to tender issues - too many people getting off the boat at the same time. Our time in port was reduced by two hours which was a shame. Once again we took a private mini bus tour around the island to Paleokastritsa, Lakones and Kanoni. The decrease in time meant we had no time to visit Corfu time.

At all ports Celebrity were there to hand out cold towels and cold water for the passengers - very welcome in the heat.

This port was a bus or taxi ride away from the Old town. We took a bus which took around 15 minutes to reach the old town. We bought an icecream and coffee and walked the old town walls (100 kunas per person) A beautiful town with plenty to see.

This was the easiest port location wise as we reached the town of Kusadasi within five minutes walk of the ship. We had arranged a private mini bus tour to Ephesus with AboutEphesus.com and this was a highlight of our cruise - highly recommended

This is a beautiful island but involved tenders which does delay the disembarkation process. We got off the ship very early but others had to wait longer. We arranged a day at the beach but other sin our party enjoyed the walk around Mykonos town which was beautifu
