Escaped Completely

Sail Date: July 2014
Destination: Baltic & Northern Europe
Embarkation: Southampton

Well, My wife and I booked our fourth cruise about 6 weeks before we were due to set sail. Fourteen days around the Baltics sounded fantastic and considering the price we paid, we were extremely happy!

Ship: The ship itself is very similar to the Grand Princess which we traveled on before but this was not a problem, it just meant we were able to find our way around a little easier. The decor was pleasant enough and the cabin itself clean and well maintained throughout. The gym was always too busy but the swimming pools were always quiet (surprising really!)

Entertainment: Was good in my opinion but it will always depend on what you like. I felt the movies under the stars was a little disappointing compared to usual and many of the films were quite dated. The comedians (which they had a lot of) were excellent I thought and the stage shows were really good too. They also had a couple of acrobats which were impressive to watch the first couple of times but were on a More little too often!

Food: Food was excellent. The buffet always had a good selection of food although it did get VERY busy. There was also a place to buy burgers/hotdogs, pizzas, ice creams, an international cafe which had salads and cakes and of course dining rooms. We had the early dining and always found it to be very good. The waiters were friendly, courteous and did their best to ensure we had a good time.

The ports of call were excellent however, many required a shuttle bus which was quite costly. This was not something that Princess had warned us about. It was annoying but not something that ruined the cruise. The excursion is Russia was a little frustrating too as the tour guide refused to talk about the history of the country following the revolution of 1917. That being said, our one in Belgium was excellent and was exceptionally interesting.

Generally, it was a fantastic holiday but there are always going to be people who complain. How anyone can complain about the food is beyond me personally though! We arrived back in the UK a few days ago but are thoroughly refreshed! Less

Cabin review: Emerald Princess R339

Maybe a little cramped but certainly well maintained. Very average for a cabin really!
