Just off the Breakaway and had a great time with DH,DD,DS. I am writing this review ASAP to reassure any future cruisers that all of the negative reviews that I had read prior to our cruise (which almost encouraged me to cancel) were not all true. That goes for the ship, but not so for Bermuda which is not NCL's fault. Unfortunately, we did not have a positive experience in Bermuda due to it being their national 2 day holiday and cricket match. Most everything was closed for 2 days, transportation was a nightmare, beaches and roads were beyond crowded. I do not blame Bermuda for this as it is their Holiday. I should have researched more and should not have booked for this week. So, for any future cruisers to Bermuda, research their Holiday dates and DO NOT go then.

Bermuda is a beautiful island with very friendly people always willing to be of assistance. However, with the port being at Kings Warf, we found ourselves spending too much time and money getting to anyplace from there. The most economical was a 3 day bus/ferry ticket for $122.50 for 4. Issues were: waiting up to an hour for bus connections, bus stops not always close to where you want to go and the bus ride itself was like a thrill ride at an amusement park--they sell T-shirts that say "I survived the bus ride in Bermuda". A Taxi fare 1 way to Elbow Beach was $50.00 and took 1 hour. Then, one would have to walk 400 yards to get to the public beach or like us spend $50 for a day pass at the resort and then add food/drinks to this equals a very expensive day at the beach!

Now, as for the Breakaway....it is a beautiful ship. I will start with the good... The embarkation in NYC was a breeze. We were dropped off at 11:20 and on the ship by 12:00 in our cabins. Very efficient and pleasant check-in. The cabins were spotless, as well as every where on the ship and each every crew member we met was outstanding, especially I Gede the martini bar bartender, Roy and Gilbert. There were activities galore from morning until late night if desired. We pre-booked the UBP, dining package and made show reservations in advance. Well worth the price if you like to drink and try different menus(more on food and drinks to follow). Yes, it does add considerable cost to the base price but it makes for a nice all inclusive which you know the cost of upfront and lessens the shock which comes under the door on the last day. As for entertainment, Jungle Cirque and Rock of Ages =outstanding! (and for all of those who felt not appropriate for kids? yes, true, but you are informed not intended for children).Watched some of the Tribute to Whitney Houston which was very good but Magic show was so-so and didn't see any other shows.
