I am not an avid cruiser (I am more of an all-inclusive resort slug) but have done cruises in the past. I appreciated foxtraveler’s detailed review here on CruiseCritic so I will try to return the favor.

I preprinted our boarding paperwork and had put the tags on our bags back at home. When in Venice, I bought two bottles of wine and brought them on board with us (you are limited to 2 bottles and only on the day of departure). We got to the cruise terminal around 11:30 am, thinking we’d miss those waiting when it opened at 11 but before the last minute stragglers came in. We breezed through. Check-in was simple and organized. We were told the rooms would be ready by 2 so we went to lunch in Windjammer (buffet). We then toured the boat and by then, the rooms were ready. We were on Deck 7 with a balcony. With just myself and two teen daughters, it was a little cramped. I couldn’t imagine sleeping 4 people in that room. The room attendant made up the pull out bed every morning and evening so we would have more room. Sheila was always pleasant and helpful. There is a TV in the room that has CNN International, a music/video channel, a channel that explains the next port, a channel that pitches other ships, a channel that shows the view of the boat from the front. There’s other channels but that’s all we put on.

We had MyTime dining so made reservations each day for the next day. We tended to go around 7 or 7:30 and had very little problem getting the time we wanted. Only mess-up was the last night when we requested a particular waiter. The woman at the desk shuffled people around so we could sit in his area, but when we went at our scheduled time, we were taken to a totally different area in the back by the kitchen. Evidently, another family slipped in earlier and took our table. Staff was accommodating and moved us to an area up front by the window. Didn’t get our waiter, but got to experience another set of waiters and another view of the dining room.

Cabin Review

Room was tight for 3 people. Bathroom was small but workable.
