To start with, this was a horrible ship with even worse service! The Caribbean Princess is only 10 years old and was refurbished just a couple of years ago, however, to look at the interior it looks like it is old and just plain worn out; elevators continually broken with signs on them and the ones that did work were extremely slow. The carpet is worn and dirty in most all areas of the ship.
The entire ship was extremely warm, including our stateroom, despite our asking to have it looked at; of course that never happened. What made it worse was the fact that I have never been on a cruise that did not provide a top sheet--only a fitted sheet and a quilted duvet--very warm to say the least.
The buffet area was the worst I have ever experienced--instead of having an open concept that every other cruise line has, they have a small enclosed area that is not only extremely hot and unorganized, but it creates extremely long lines and wait times trying to get in for your meals since a staff member has to stand there to make sure only a limited number of people at a time are in there. Also, passengers are not allowed to get their own silver ware, napkins or drinks (coffee, tea, water, juice, etc) so it is difficult and time consuming trying to flag someone down to get something to drink.
The food in general is substandard at best and the wait staff are aloof, unfriendly and do not appear to enjoy working there which out of all my years of cruising, I have never experienced this until now.
The entertainment was very limited which was also very disappointing as the days at sea were really boring unless you like to play Bingo all the time.
The gym was small and always so crowded it was not possible to use any of the equipment. They also did not provide any way to wipe any of it down between users which created sanitary issues--YUK!
This might have been a nice stop and I was looking forward to it, however, due to the bad weather, the port was cancelled and we were forced to accept an additional day at sea without any adjustment in cruise fair or credit. An additional day at sea would not have been so bad had there been more to do on board.
