Sail Date: Jun 2014

Two weeks before our departure for a cruise from Brisbane to Fremantle we were advised our itinerary had been changed due to a technical problem. We subsequently discovered at least one cruise before us had also been changed. Princess made a point of telling us we agreed to changes in the fine print. Onboard we were advised the ship would sail to Singapore for repairs on the cruise after ours. Imagine my surprize to find out the identical cruise in September (reverse order) has also had it's itinerary changed. Why? The ship was supposed to be repaired in July and if it hasn't why is it still sailing. Perhaps the alternative itinerary is a cheaper option for Princess? The September cruise doesn't even get to go to Broome.

Not only did we not go to Port Douglas (Yorkey's Knob instead..total waste of time) we also missed out on Densepar (Alatou in New Guinea instead). We opted not to go ashore in New Guinea but did not realize that even if we stayed on the ship my husband who has been a blood donor for over 40 years would not be able to donate blood for three years because the ship visited New Guinea waters. This is something neither Princess Cruises or Flight Centre told us.

These changes meant we no longer had a day and evening in Broome but rather a few hours late afternoon upon arrival, it was so poorly organized our number wasn't called until after dark so we didn't get to go. Then three hours the next morning, by which time when we arrived in Broome proper we only had a hour to look around. No apologies from the Captain until two days later and then just a basic one in the daily newsletter. We missed Geraldton (because of the weather...we can accept that). Arrival in Fremantle was a day early and we had to stay on ship to clear customs the next morning. The only compensation we got was a paltry $100 each spending money onboard which went back into their pockets.

Cabin Review

Room was clean and comfortable. Cabin Steward very good. Happy with cabin.
