A fun time! (but Carnival could make some improvements)

Sail Date: July 2014
Destination: Western Caribbean
Embarkation: Tampa

I'll start by saying this was our 2nd Carnival cruise. We've cruised with RC and Princess and Celebrity in the past and have been very happy with those cruises. (Most recently we were on the Oasis of the Seas with RC). I'll start with the things we were very happy/satisfied with... first of all, our cabin was wonderful!!! We booked the Grand Suite. As you walk in there is lighted closet to the left, a mini-bar next to it. To the right is a large full length mirror. Straight ahead is a sofa, table and a couple chairs then to the balcony, which is nice and large with two lounge chairs, two tables and two regular chairs. There is a king size bed too. There are about 3 closets total and a bunch of drawers - you will have ample space. The bathroom is huge for a cruise ship. A jetted-tub, bidet, toilet, two sinks, etc. We also couldn't have been happier with our stateroom attendant, Aldo. He was fantastic!!

The shows on the ship were really good. We saw two comedy shows and they More were both really good. We also saw the illusionist and Epic Rock show, and both were quite entertaining. We went to the bingo and trivia challenges and both were really fun.

The serenity deck (over 18) was nice and relaxing.

We spent quite a bit of time in the casino, and had a great time. We had the best service on the whole ship in the casino. Vicky, one of the casino hosts, was very helpful, personable and did a great job!

The food and service in the main dining room (Truffles) wasn't much to be desired. On the first two nights, we were seated at 6pm and didn't even receive a drink or appetizer until 7:15pm. After those nights I went to customer service and gave them some feedback, which was received very nicely. The service on the following nights in the main dining room were much better...and apologies were made by the assistant maitre d'. We just weren't that happy with the quality of the food on the ship - in the MDR and the buffet. The buffet was very limited in comparison of other cruises we've been on.. and only one side was open at a time. For breakfast the bacon was in clumps and dripping with grease. It was hard to get any fruit other than an apple or a banana. I will say the pizza bar was really good. What can you say when the best food on the ship is the pizza bar.

The cruise director, Eli, was a little dry. Not that much energy and a dry sense of humor.

Disembarkation was a breeze. They really had that part organized well. Less
