Wife and I just returned fron a cruise on the Getaway. Great ship with a few issues. We have cruised with NCL 10 times so we know what to expect etc. Food was as good or better than any other NCL ship. Never really had a bad meal. Prime rib was outstanding! The staff was the friendliest we have ever encountered. We are in our 60's and spent most of out outdoor time at the H20 adult area in the rear of the ship. Need more umbrellas and would be nice if a pool was in this area. Also, the decking in this area is scalding hot! Could have done better here. Waterfall area was a nice touch as well as 4 whirlpool saunas. Plenty of chairs....but again had to get there very early for any shade. The boat is so big I would recommend staying in the center/aft of the ship as most activities are located here. Also, our cabin was on the 12th deck where the Kids Activity Center is located. Lots of noise for the first two days up until 1am. We complained and the issue was properly addressed. However, if you want late night quiet.....I WOULD NOT STAY ON DECK 12! There were tons of kids on this voyage and we love kids but they constantly took over the pool area and basically ran crazy whenever they wanted. Entertainment was good. Embarkation/debarkation was a breeze HOWEVER we were very early on and off as usual. We felt our room was a little small but arranged so that that was not a issue at all. Unless you need adjoining rooms don't get one as these doors are paper thin. Bought WIFI and had no problems. Very large and nice casino which stayed busy. The large high tech screens and lighting systems were phenomenal!
Overall, the entire staff could not have been more pleasant and helpful. We are pretty easy to please but will complain loudly when and if warranted. Judging by many of the previous negative comments, I think the Getaway listens and addresses its shortcomings. It is still a new ship and adjustments have to be made. Would we cruise on the Getaway again......70/30.
