Hand Hygiene Issues
We had our first cruise on this luxury line starting on 26 July and ending on 2 August. Previously we had done a river cruise with Scenic and expected an even higher standard of food and service given the higher prices.
We were very disappointed that the staff didn't insist on every passenger using the hand sanitizers positioned at the entries to all restaurants, particularly since several passengers and staff had very noticeable coughs, which increased over the 7 days.
The air conditioning system in our suite smelled stale, and the only solution seemed to be spraying air freshener around the room (which worked for 5 minutes).
The temperature difference between the ship and the shore was huge -- which probably made us all more susceptible to infection.
Seabourn does have an exceptionally talented crew and entertainment team, who were very friendly, and made up for the lack of interaction between guests themselves. There were many large family groups More who stuck with themselves. The high price of shore excursions meant that many people simply toured the port towns for a couple of hours on their own, then came back to the ship for food and rest by the pool.
We were surprised by the wide age range of passengers -- with many children roaming around the ship with parents and grandparents.
The biggest disappointment for us was the need to cut our cruise short due to the bad cold that we caught on board. Less

Cabin review: Seabourn Odyssey 737
Watch out -- this cabin is directly below the pool entertainment area, and reverberates to the sounds of chairs moving around, and the beat of the bass drum every time there is entertainment in the pool area. Great if you're a party animal - but not good if you want to be up early the next morning for an excursion.
