My husband, 16 year old daughter and I just returned from our weeklong cruise on the Breakaway. We had a wonderful time! There were some tiny little blips, but nothing really worth mentioning. I've been reading some Breakaway reviews for the last few months and I was a bit concerned with some of the issues folks were reporting, but I must say- we didn't see it!
This is our 3rd cruise with Norwegian, we've been on the Gem twice. The Gem was lovely but this ship is a big upgrade. We've also sailed on the RC Oasis, which was massive and magnificent but very Vegas-like. To me the Breakaway was the best of both worlds, big enough to have everything you might want but not over the top- it did have an air of elegance and simplicity despite its size!
We had a balcony cabin on deck 11, we found it to be the most spacious we've had on a ship (although we had always had an oceanview before.) It was a tad stingy on the drawers/shelves front, but I always overpack so I probably had more stuff than the average person! We found spots for everything, though. Bathroom was the nicest by far.. I've been in bathrooms on land that were smaller. Our steward was very nice and friendly. My husband said the bathroom sink wasn't draining well and within an hour a plumber was at the door and fixed the sink in a snap. He also mentioned that the weather stripping thingy on the front door was coming off- and when my daughter returned to the room later that day, a worker had the door off and was replacing it!- by the time I came back it was all done!
